The standard Surron Light Bee brakes are woefully inadequate, especially if you have an upgraded controller. I cannot believe that I didn’t switch them out sooner! After one particular white-knuckle experience at the bottom of a steep incline where I had the standard brake lever pulled back to the bars, my moto foot activated rear brake pedal nearly bent double and the regen thumb control mashed to the stop, I narrowly avoided becoming part of a metal gate. It was at this point that I decided to look around for a better brake solution before I became a statistic. I was searching YouTube for info and came across a video by MB Zoomer. This video explains pretty much everything in simple terms that you need to do to install the kit. In the description, there was a link that took me to the MBZ website. For most folks, you are going to want the full kit which includes the brake set as well as the bracket and rotor. The package arrived by USPS free shipping within 5 days of ordering.
The kit itself is simple, very well designed and super easy to install if you have a few tools and a tiny bit of mechanical knowledge. I also bought the brake light adaptor wire, which was also straight forward to install. The only issue I had was removing the plastic block from between the pads in the new caliper. I had to remove the pads to get it out. As noted in the video, just unscrew the two brake pad pins and pry out the two pads as a single unit to remove the plastic block. Make sure that you use a dab of blue Loctite on the disc bolts, caliper mount and pad pins when you install everything again. On trials type tires, you can now do a ‘stoppie’ to impress the game warden as he pulls you over. All in all, an amazing upgrade. Two friends are now going to order the kit for their Surrons. I was able to fit this brake to an EXT Ferro Fork with no issues, just need to ensure your rotor is straight and give it ample time to break in
